PHOENIX (May 14, 2024) – LAVIDGE IMPACT volunteers can often be found pitching in throughout the community wearing their branded employee volunteer program T-shirts at food banks, animal shelters, organizations to help foster kids or veterans, and even dishing up lunch at soup kitchens for the homeless.
This month, several LAVIDGIANs stepped up to take a swing at reducing suicide in Arizona and boosting resources for women in crisis by participating in two benefit golf tournaments.
First up, LAVIDGE sponsored three teams to compete in the Arizona Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Golf for Hope 2024 tournament. Glow-in-the-dark golf balls are a highlight of the nighttime event played at the Continental Golf Club in Scottsdale on Saturday. May 4. The event raised $6,750 to fund services to those at risk of suicide and their family members—easily exceeding its $5,000 goal.
It’s a popular event among agency employees, many of whom have participated in the fun since IMPACT first sponsored Golf for Hope in 2021.
“I feel so fortunate to work for a company that enables me to support local charities like the Arizona Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Hope Women’s Center,” said Public Relations Account Executive Tricia Beckham. “It’s a deeply rewarding experience to raise funds for causes that matter to me and play an enjoyable round of golf at the same time.”
A few days later, as a Gold Sponsor with a sunrise check-in at the Papago Golf Club, LAVIDGE IMPACT once again supplied volunteers. The group teed off at 7:30 a.m. May 8 for a shotgun start at the GCON Gives 2024 Spring Tournament in support of Hope Women’s Center.
GCON Gives, the charitable arm of GCON Inc., was established in 2021 to help the regional commercial contracting business extend its ability to give back to the community. Its most recent service project raised about $20,000. Its reach will extend beyond the Hope Women’s Center's three Valley locations to Maricopa, Coolidge and Camp Verde.
That’s because the Center operates in six locations across Arizona where it offers programs to support women and teen girls as they navigate difficult life challenges.
Under the supervision of Sandra Torre, LAVIDGE IMPACT has provided agency employees regular opportunities to volunteer since 2019, earning numerous accolades for the ad, public relations, digital and marketing agency founded in 1982. Torre is one of two co-presidents of LAVIDGE alongside Chief Creative Officer Bob Case. She is also the Phoenix-based agency’s CFO where she has contributed her talent for more than 20 years.
